All classes are 45 minutes, except Stretch which is 30 minutes. All classes can be run either Private or Duet*.
Classical Pilates
Our classical Reformer Pilates classes are just as Joseph Pilates intended, designed to help you build strength, flexibility, and balance. Pilates was a programming genius, each exercise builds on the previous ones so we work through the exercise sets in order, practice makes perfect.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
This class is for you if you want to work hard to achieve total body conditioning.
Contemporary Pilates
Taking the classical repertoire and building on, introducing variations sometimes better suited to a more modern lifestyle. Contemporary classes use a mix of Reformer, EXO Chair and Tower equipment to help you reach your goals.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
This class is for you if you want to initially focus on a specific issue or if you like to mix it up a bit when it comes to your Pilates practice.
HIP Pilates™*
High Intensity Power Pilates classes are designed to challenge you, developing your skills and fitness levels by adding variety and cardio training. It’s more dynamic than a classical or contemporary class, with a faster pace and sequences that challenge coordination, memory and improves stamina.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Try this if you’re looking for more of a cardio workout, however, it is not for beginners. It is essential you understand the Reformer and how you move with it and be looking to work harder and push yourself further. This is the class that doesn’t rest.
Jumpboard Pilates*
Adding a Jumpboard to the Reformer brings additional plyometric and cardio benefits to Pilates. The additional upper body exercises, along with the range of movement and control required, will challenge your muscles, body awareness and core control significantly.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Try Jumpboard if you’re enjoying your Pilates sessions but are looking for more of a cardio workout. This is not a class for complete beginners; you should understand the Reformer and how you move with it and be looking to work harder and push yourself further.
Peri-Menopause and Menopause Pilates
Developed in conjunction with Dr Hobson, clinical lead director of the Menopause Consortium, Peri-menopause and menopause Pilates combines Contemporary Pilates and Jumpboard Pilates to increase muscle strength, improve flexibility, tone the abdominal area, reawaken the pelvic floor and encourage bones to become stronger and more dense.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Try this if you need to feel empowered whilst your body is going through dramatic changes with people who can empathise.
Pre-Natal Pilates
Pregnancy is a time of significant change for the body. With a focus on core stability, pelvic strength and balance, the Reformer, EXO Chair and Tower are the perfect pieces of equipment to support you and your changing body. Prenatal classes are an excellent way to help you exercise safely and prepare your body for what’s to come.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Mothers-to-be who regularly exercise their core muscles can expect to experience shorter labours and reduced lower back and pelvic pain. Only exercises that are completely safe for mother and baby will be performed.
Make sure that you get clearance from your GP before you begin any new exercise programme. Please note if you’re in your 3rd trimester and have not attended classes during the earlier stages of your pregnancy, it’s not safe to start now.
Post-Natal Pilates
Post-Natal Pilates offers a safe and effective way to recover from pregnancy and childbirth – helping you regain your abdominal strength, encourage pelvic floor awareness, and realign imbalanced posture. It also provides both mental and physical benefits that allow new mums to cope better with the demands of motherhood.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
Give yourself time to breathe and reconnect with you. Once your GP has said its ok to recommence exercise, typically 6 weeks for a natural birth and 12 weeks post caesarean we’ll be here to help.
Stretch*
One of the most versatile pieces of exercise equipment to assist with movement, the Pilates Reformer is ideally suited for isolating and lengthening specific muscles, and enabling a deeper, more effective stretch than you could achieve unassisted.
You will be guided through a progression of stretches to improve all-round flexibility and mobility. Though you’ll see whole-body benefits, focus can be placed on any problem areas and muscle groups that you need to improve.
*Jumpboard Pilates, HIP Pilates and Stretch classes are private classes, not currently available for Duet.
