    NEW STORY

Reformer Pilates

Ten years ago (after many conversations with people who always told me “you need to do Pilates”) I walked into my very first Reformer Pilates class, mistakenly thinking I had signed up for a mat class. As I looked around the room at the unfamiliar equipment, I considered leaving. But just then, the instructor walked in and urged me to choose a reformer for the session. Forty-five minutes later, I emerged from that first class feeling like I had found the missing piece in my life – the chance for my mind to truly connect with my body and address the issues in my hips and back from carrying twins. I really felt like I could finally start writing my new story.

As a mum of twins born with cystic fibrosis, me-time was a rarity. But Reformer Pilates quickly became my solace, and I attended weekly classes and squeezed in as many mat sessions as possible. I was hooked on the sense of achievement and renewed energy that Pilates gave me. Eventually, I decided to pursue Pilates teacher training and obtain certification to teach Reformer classes.

Two years ago, during the early days of the pandemic, I founded New Story Pilates. Despite the challenges of lockdown, I trained with some of the best Reformer teachers out there and expanded my repertoire of classes. I still train with teachers to this day, not just to enhance my work with my clients, but to improve my own Pilates practice. My passion for Pilates has only grown stronger over the years, and I am now a proud advocate of its many benefits. When people ask me for advice on how to feel their best, I always say “you need to do Pilates”.
